Gusto.com referral code – $100

We just migrated www.madgenius.com payroll over to gusto.com payroll services. I really wanted to do something that was not Intuit and gusto seems to have gotten rave reviews. It has a lovely UX work flow, and pretty brain dead setup. The costs are also more manageable for a smaller company as well. Once I get a few months run under this system, I will likely post a larger review. I also like the fact it has the ability to owner/Div withdrawals directly, outside of the payroll system. Super simple for small business S-Corp owners to do.

The deal, you get $100 VISA gift card if you use my link when you sign up and run your first payroll. I get $300 for some reason! I hear the referral offers change though, so if you check and it’s something else, let me know so I can update this.

How to import database through webmin

This took some digging, but here’s the method to import a database (.sql extension) into your webmin.

Webmin -> Servers -> MySQL Server

If the database already exists and you want to overwrite it with the contents of a .sql file (a mysqldump), click to select the database in the list.

Otherwise, click to create a new database. After creation, click to select that database.

The click “Execute SQL” and then “Run SQL from File”. Browse to find the .sql file and do it.

If you’re using Virtualmin the process is similar, except you start in:

Virtualmin -> (Choose Virtual Server) -> Edit Databases.

When you do it in Virtualmin the domain account is automatically granted access to new databases when you create them.

Web Hosting Requests – The final

I’d like to finish off saying that you pay for what you get as well. Some people expect 50GB of space, and 2TB of bandwidth for $8 a year, well, I hate to break it to you, but that is just not going to happen in this day and age. Good servers cost money, and if a company is allocating out that much space/bandwidth, you are safe to say they are overselling.

Do you need upgradable options? More Hard Drives, more bandwidth, additional IP addresses, 24/7 staff on the Data Center location, etc Those are just a few things to think about if you want to stick long term with a company.

Web Hosting Requests – #1, The Basics

I see a lot of new threads for people wanting to buy, or that are looking for new service that really lack pertant information for anyone
to actually refer them anywhere.

This is just a list of things to think about when looking for web hosting, Reseller, and Dedicated services.

Please note that unlimited hosting has been discussed many, MANY times and it’s impossible to offer such packages, so please, when giving specifics on space/bandwidth, give numbers, not just asking for unlimited, it won’t happen.
