Awesome pictures from around the world
Someone sent me these in a chain email, it was horribly formatted. I also do not know who made the comments, or how accurate they are. I take zero credit in the pictures, I just wanted to compile them nicely for all to see.

These trees grow in the forest near Gryfino, Poland. The cause of the curvature is unknown
EDIT : kc0tma from expedition portal actually has a good reasoning behind this :
The reason for these trees being bendy actually is known. We've got a lot of trees like this around my parts and are locally known as "pistol butts". What happens is you have smaller, younger trees, and they get a heavy snow load on them that bends them over. Then when the snow starts melting part of the tree goes back upwards while the weight of the snow keeps the rest bent over. Its kind of like when you soak a piece of lumber in water and then put it in traction and once it dries it stays bent.

Those are some pretty awesome pictures. I really like the one where you are looking down through the glass floor. Just looking at the pic gave me a sense of vertigo.
The clouds in the ” Balloons in Cappadocia” picture are beautiful.
I bet it took a good bit of engineering to build that canal over a river.

Agreed, some very awesome pictures! I love the trees.

Hi where abouts is that lost paradise, tried google-ing, can find some things on the isle of lamu but nothing on that exact photo. Any help?
Vivi The Mage on 12.20.2011
I did some digging too, couldn’t find anymore information on it either. The person who made the subtext may have gotten the location/island incorrect. Or it’s just one of the things that actually doesn’t exist on the internet! haha
Gwenlyn on 12.23.2011
I believe dat paradise lost is part of the Six senses resort and spa at Laamu, Maldives
Vivi The Mage on 12.23.2011
Do you have a link?
Anonymous on 12.26.2011
That image of the Crescent Moon Tower in Dubai isn’t a photograph of a real building; it’s a computer-generated image of a concept building.
Vivi The Mage on 12.26.2011
I think you might be right, I found another, similar one :

The moon crescent Dubai skyscraper doesn’t exist yet so the pic you’ve got is just an imagining. Also, the Burj Khalifa right, but the way you’ve written it makes it appear as if the buildings around it are that height.
Vivi The Mage on 01.01.2012
I didn’t make the comments, but yeah, I noticed the dubai image too, it’s a computer mock up, it has to be.

just to clarify i believe the lake shown of montana is actually as shallow as it looks if the lake were deeper the shadow would be less defined and less dark as light would bleed around the figure
Vivi The Mage on 01.07.2012
Someone else mentioned that too.

Amazing shots, especially bent trees and the games shop. Great collection of images.

I love the pictures, but what I would really like to comment on is your character. I read through some of the previous comments and even when someone contradicted you or tried to be a jerk, you came back with a positive remark instead of arguing or saying something rude. Truly inspirational.

For those who do not know ,the glass balcony is at the Willis Tower[formerly Sears Tower].I live about 3 hours away from Chicago in Indiana.Since I was a kid I have enjoyed going to Chicago .There are so many things to explore there.May I recommend that you stay in Indiana close to the magnificent Dunes National L
ake shore and catch the “Blue Line” in to the city? The round trip is less than $20 I think, and takes about 1 hour ,20 minutes ,one way It runs I think about 21 hours per day and will drop you off at Randolph in the heart of the loop.
Vivi The Mage on 01.12.2012
Wow, that is actually pretty cool…I did not know they had trains from Indiana to Chicago. If only they could get some direct/fast ones from Minnesota!
MEgO on 01.17.2012
what is the name of the lake in montana? it looks wonderful…
Vivi The Mage on 01.17.2012
Not sure! No one has mentionted what it is yet…Jazy seems to say it’s familiar, maybe he knows.
TJay on 01.20.2012
Just so you know the light house with the waves crashing around it is not in Mare, France. That is Minot’s Ledge Light in Minot, MA. It is the only free standing lighthouse built from the sea floor up in the world. Shortly after that picture was taken the light house keepers were taken out of the light and it was made automated. Its also famous because the light blinks the pattern * **** *** (I love you). The lighthouse keeper in that photo barely survived the picture and its been iconic in the area ever since.
Vivi The Mage on 01.20.2012
Thanks for that, I updated it to say that…informative!

Love the collection, especially the balloons in Turkey, and the clear lake. I did happen to notice all kinds of strangeness abounding with the traffic jam photo. I don’t think that’s China at all, I think it’s Southern California, and heavily photo shopped. The way the lanes come together, and the number of lanes, one side has nine lanes, the other ten, plus the architecture of the surrounding buildings doesn’t look Chinese at all. Not a nag, just an observation. Thanks for sharing, and having such a great attitude.
Vivi The Mage on 02.04.2012

Great photos, I love the border between the Netherlands and Belgium!
Lee on 02.12.2012
Great pictures. However, I have to correct the name of the lighthouse. It’s called La Jument and it IS in France. The picture above is a famous photo taken by the photographer Jean Guichard in 1989. I know this as I have the picture in my house! Check on his website – lots of photos of La Jument (and even Wikipedia gets this one right).
richard on 02.12.2012
Appreciate the trouble you went to to present these photos in the way you have. Brilliant.
i think I’m right in suggesting that if you take a horizontal cross-section of the Mare, France lighthouse, the cross section is octagonal: if you do likewise with the Minot’s Ledge Lighthouse, the cross section is circular.
Go to http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fapXUqagiFQ for time lapse of the keeper reentering the lighthouse.
sam on 02.12.2012
I live 2 miles from Minot’s Light and I can assure you that isn’t it. Minot’s has no platform around the bottom like that.
sam on 02.12.2012
Also, Minot’s light is in Scituate, not Minot.

The “Flathead,” as locals call the valley, lies just west of the Continental Divide in northwest Montana. Here you’ll find the gateway to Glacier National Park, and the home of both Whitefish Mountain Resort and Blacktail Ski Area. Flathead Lake, the largest freshwater lake west of the Mississippi, is also among the cleanest large lakes – perfect for sailing, cruising, swimming, and fishing.
jen on 02.20.2012
computer screwed up my last post should have said more…
the clear lake in montana is really that clear far out at the end of my dock the water was 8 feet deep and you could see the bottom crystal clear like that it likes like 2 ft of water and out on the boat you can still see all the rocks on the bottom when the depth finder says thirty. they also have caves way down at the bottom and they cant find the end. they have sent sonar into them and the signal never returns or something like that… they think the caves might come out at the top of the mountain! i would definately recommend going there but go in the summer becuase it is REALLY cold even into july because all the water comes from melting off the mountains
Vivi The Mage on 02.20.2012
That is cool, would be awesome if you posted some pictures
.
Audion on 02.20.2012
The lighthouse picture is absolutely NOT Minot’s Ledge. As clearly seen in the picture the lighthouse is octagonal and has a defined ‘base’. Minot’s Ledge (a quick Google search for images will verify this) is ROUND the whole way up and does not have a ‘base’ but rather projects cone shaped right out of the water.
Vivi The Mage on 02.20.2012
I will update, A few people have been mentioning this.
